DA is embracing the hybrid/remote working model as we look to expand in 2022

This week we’re bidding farewell to our studio in Hull. The last couple of years have been incredible, and as well as growing our client base and team we’ve transitioned across to hybrid working in a big way. Our London office is remaining, and we’re planning on opening another two flexible spaces across the UK that will be available to the team. This next step signals our commitment to our team, and both their productivity and their wellbeing.

We’re going full hybrid. That’s not a throw away idea, it’s taken some real planning to put in place to ensure we continue to grow and deliver the kind of campaigns we’ve become known for.

A few of the things we’re doing:

✅Work anywhere – the team has the option to work from wherever they like. From home, from an office space, from a coffee shop, a studio, an art gallery, (wherever). We’ve worked with a number of partners and clients to secure locations that our team can utilize at the drop of a hat, from office spaces to stately homes, to sports stadiums.

✅At home set up – We’re providing each of our team everything they need to set up at home and work comfortably, in a way that suits them. Ergonomic chairs, screens, equipment, desks… basically whatever they need.

✅Perks – We’ve introduced a range of team wellbeing perks from mental health support, physio and wellbeing support to fully loaded Costa/Starbucks cards so people can meet up without it hitting their pockets. Making sure our team is happy & healthy is so important.

✅Flexible hours – The 9 to 5 is dead. We strongly believe that it’s not the best way to be productive and as a creative agency it’s way too restrictive. We’ve introduced entirely flexible hours. We don’t really care when our team works, we care about results & collaboration.

✅Shorter meetings – We limit meetings to 15 minutes where possible, except for ideation sessions. 30 minutes when essential but for the most part, less and much shorter meetings. This is nothing new to us and something we’ve been doing for a while now. Nobody likes to be cooped up in a boardroom slowly experiencing death by PowerPoint.

✅Weekly team meetings – The only fixed time in our diary is a weekly get together, where our whole team can meet in person in a bar, a restaurant, an office space…. depending on how people feel. Brainstorming and collaboration time is so important to how we work together as an agency.

✅Monthly retreats – Each month we’re taking the whole team on a full day/multiple day retreat to catch up, to collaborate, but mainly just to kick back and relax. It’s team building on another level.

For us this format has been an evolution, because of three key things we strive for as a company:

That we are our most creative selves.
That our team is happy and healthy.
That our team is trusted to work their best way, not how we dictate.

As we continue to grow a global team of creatives, strategists and marketers, the remote/hybrid model makes so much sense. We’ve naturally been moving in this direction for some time, so taking this fairly momentous step comes as no surprise to those involved with DA and is an indication of great things to come. Personally, I can wait to see what we achieve over the coming months.
